The Bo-Kaap is the painted quarter below Signal Hill — rows of houses in pink, lime, cobalt and orange on cobbled streets, with Table Mountain behind almost every frame. Your photographer works the quieter upper streets rather than the ones on every postcard, and the session can extend to Camps Bay on the coast. Morning light hits the façades directly. The Bo-Kaap is residential, so early sessions are both better lit and more considerate. Cape Town's summer wind, from November to February, is strong off the Cape.
