Your photographer works the colonnade, the obelisk and the approach along Via della Conciliazione. Early morning is best: the square is open and almost empty before the first tours. Wednesdays are papal audience days and the square is closed off. The dome catches warm light in the late afternoon from the Conciliazione end.
