Venice in December is the version of the city most people never see — the squares lit, the crowds gone, and fog sitting on the canals in the early morning.
Your photographer works San Marco, the Rialto and the quieter calli of Cannaregio.
This is the low season, which means the piazza is walkable and the light is soft all day. Acqua alta is possible and photographs extraordinarily well when it happens. Bring boots and something warm.
